Dr. Gasco speaks on the Level 4 Accreditation UMC earned.

EL PASO, Texas – KFOX 14 and KTSM 9 News toured UMC’s Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and spoke with surgeons who provide the highest level of care for patients with complex epilepsy.

UMC is now an accredited Level 4 Epilepsy Center by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC). Dr. Patrick Cotton, a neurosurgeon with UMC Healthcare Partners’ Nexus Neurosciences, spoke about the importance of providing access to advanced epilepsy care within the community.

"I think it's great for the people of El Paso that we can offer this locally. In the past, patients would have had to travel to Phoenix, Albuquerque, or San Antonio. Now, the people of El Paso have the opportunity to get this done," said Dr. Cotton.

Dr. Yermen speaks on the Level 4 Accreditation UMC earned.

UMC provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment, including specialized monitoring, medication management and surgical capabilities, delivered by a multidisciplinary team of neurologists, neurosurgeons, EEG technologists, neuropsychologists, radiologists and a neuro ICU team.
