Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
March 5, 2026

EL PASO, Texas – Our UMC Healthcare Partners gastroenterologists were featured on Univision 26 and KTSM 9 News to talk about the importance of colon cancer screening for Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
They reminded our community that screening is recommended starting at age 45, and earlier if you have a family history. They recommend beginning screening 10 years before the age at which your youngest relative was diagnosed. This message is especially important as we continue to see an increase in cases among people in their 30s and 40s.

Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers, yet it remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths.
Thank you to Dr. Jesus Guzman and Dr. Vinay Patel for helping educate and empower our community.
